COMMERCIAL HORTICULTURE PROGRAMS

More extensive, in-depth horticultural programs are also offered to individuals, farmers and green industry professionals. Many programs offer CEUs for Texas Nursery & Landscape Association membership, governmental agencies and commercial applicators. Collaborative research trials are being conducted with various city park and recreation departments.

RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND DEMONSTRATION GARDEN

A new research, education and demonstration garden is being developed in cooperation with County Commissioner, Dr. Theresa Daniel at the District 1 Road and Bridge office located at 715 Rowlett Road, Garland, Texas. This research, education and demonstration garden will focus on aspects of the horticultural program that will benefit both the commercial producer and the residents of Dallas County. Research trials will include Earth-Kind® perennials and ornamental grasses, a three state Earth-Kind® rose trial, turf grass trials, Earth-Kind® viticulture trials and an orchard trial and demonstration area. Also featured will be landscape demonstrations. Water conservation is a major issue in the state of Texas. Included in the demonstrations will be rain water collection cisterns and conservation irrigation methods.
